After establishing our law firm, in 1966, Newton’s long career in the law was an important one, for him, the firm and the legal profession. For forty years, he was the firm’s senior partner, who set the standard of legal excellence, creativity and wise counseling which became the hallmark of the firm.
Newton received his BS in 1955 from the Wharton School of Finance and Commerce at the University of Pennsylvania and his LLB in 1958 from Yale University School of Law. He was an Editor of the Yale Law Journal and was elected to the Order of the Coif.
Newton focused in the areas of tax, corporate law and trusts and estates. He lectured on legal, accounting and financial reporting topics at the Yale School of Organization and Management. He was listed in The Best Lawyers in America and was widely regarded by his peers as one of the brightest and most creative tax practitioners in the Northeast. Newton was regarded by his clients as an exceptionally wise counselor and friend.
Newton was a member of the Board of Trustees of the Friends of Yale Hillel Foundation.
Newton’s brilliant legal work, learned counsel and personal example taught many partners, colleagues, adversaries and clients lessons in the law and in life.
